The #NUST Atta Ur Rehman School of Applied Biosciences and Hochschule Geisenheim University, Germany are organizing the Summer School on “Improving Mechanistic Understanding of Greenhouse Gas Emission and Measurement Techniques” from June 24-28, 2024.

The event improves understanding of GHG emissions, focusing on agriculture’s impact and biochar technology’s potential to reduce emissions. It fosters commitments to share techniques, offers funded travel grants, and covers GHG formation, advanced measurement, data analysis, and teaching.
Applications are open until March 24, 2024, and the program includes fully funded learning, immersion in Germany’s environmental landscape, networking opportunities, interactive sessions, field trips, and teaching experiences in Pakistan.

Who can apply:
This intensive program offers a unique opportunity for early career scientists, enrolled PhD students, and agriculture industry professionals. The applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria.
i. Have a degree in the given fields of study/area of research. Agroecology, Agronomy, Soil and Environmental Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Climate Change, or relevant fields dealing with GHG emissions.
ii. Have proven knowledge about the role of GHG emissions and atmospheric concentrations in global climate change.
iii. Have a permanent job (except PhD students) to ensure a potential multiplier of the knowledge gained from summer school.
iv. Committing to teach the lessons learned in Germany in a subsequent GHG Summer School taking place in the last week of September 2024 in Pakistan at NUST, Islamabad.
v. Applicants having proven knowledge of doing/completing relevant projects will be preferred.
vi. Nationals of Pakistan.

a. Associate Professors = 01 Max. Post PhD experience = 07 years
b. Assistant Professors = 02 Max. Post PhD experience = 01-05 years
c. Agri industry professionals = 01 Minimum 05 years of experience
d. PhD students = 02 Enrolled in PhD (with proven relevant PhD project)
