The University of Otago, also known as Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka, is thrilled to announce that applications are now open for the prestigious Global Scholarship for the 2025 Spring intake. This scholarship, valued at $15,000, is available to international students from nominated countries who are eager to pursue full-time undergraduate study at New Zealand’s oldest university. Prospective students must apply by December 10, to be considered for a Semester 1 (February 2025) start.

Benefits
Payment of the scholarship will be made as a credit towards tuition fees only.
For those commencing study in semester 2 (July), half the scholarship funds ($7,500) will be released as a credit towards tuition fees, with the other half being released in semester 1 (February) of the following year.
Eligible Nationalities
This scholarship is open to international students from China (Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau), India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must plan to study at the University of Otago | Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka from their first year (100-level) through to completing their degree.
They should be applying either as students from a designated country or for a specific program of study at Otago.
Students are required to remain on campus for the entire duration of their studies.
Application Procedure
Every eligible applicant must indicate in their application for study, through the student management system (eVision), that they would like to be considered for international scholarships at the University of Otago | Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka.
