Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Study in Canada Scholarships, candidates must:
- Be enrolled full-time in a post-secondary institution in their home country.
- Pay tuition fees to their home institution for the full duration of the scholarship.
Who is NOT Eligible?
Candidates are not eligible if they:
- Hold or have applied for Canadian citizenship or permanent residency.
- Are already enrolled in a degree, diploma, or certificate program in Canada.
- Are currently benefiting from another Canadian government-funded scholarship.
Selection Criteria
Scholarships are awarded based on:
- Merit of research or study proposal.
- Impact on the home institution and peers.
- Potential contributions to the Canadian institution.
- Strength of the academic and cultural exchange links.
- Priority is given to students who have not received a Study in Canada Scholarship before.
Application Procedure
International students cannot apply directly. Instead, their home institution must partner with a Canadian institution, which will submit the application on their behalf.
Steps to Apply:
- Contact the international office at your home university to check for student exchange agreements with Canadian institutions.
- If an agreement exists, request to be nominated for the scholarship.
- The Canadian institution will apply on your behalf by submitting the required documents.
- Once selected, apply for a Canadian visa or study/work permit as early as possible to avoid delays.
Important Dates
- Application Deadline for Canadian Institutions:Â March 18, 2025 (11:59 PM EDT).
- Notification of Results:Â Spring 2025.
- Arrival in Canada:Â Between August 1, 2025, and February 1, 2026.
