Gen Structural pattern of Arteries & Veins
ARTERIES
ATHEROSCLEROSIS
When tunica media of an artery is weakened by an embryonic defect, disease, or lesion, the wall of the artery may dilate extensively. As this process of dilatation progresses, it becomes ANEURYSM. Rupture of aneurysm brings severe consequences & may cause death.
VEINS
- Tunics not well defined
- Amount of muscular & elastic tissue reduced
- Proportion of C.T. components is higher
- Â Thinner walls but larger lumen
